Dates for your Diary
Today, 2pm - Surf Session!
Head along to the boatshed for some chilled kayaking in nice weather! I won't be there as I have too much work, but, contrary to popular belief, fun is possible without me present.
Thursday 4th April, 4pm - Another surf session!
In light of our lack of a pool at the moment, another surf session's being put on tomorrow. Come along if you can't today, or come to both!
Sunday 7th April - Charity Dodgeball!
6 people needed for a charity dodgeball team! Event information here. Team entries are due today, and Rory Munro is organising it, so email him (rm82) soon for chat and maybe more. (Definitely more).
Saturday 6th - Sunday 7th April - First Aid Course
First Aid course with George Fell (certified legend)! £25 for a two day course and qualification. Email Jon H (jrh8) if interested!
Friday 26th April - Aqua Ball!
Keep this date free! More information here, guaranteed to be a good night. Tim Cain will be sorting tickets so keep your eyes and ears peeled for more information.
Kayaking first became part of the Olympics in 1936.
Sunday 28th April - SSS WWR!In light of a lack of our presence at BUCS WWR this year, KMac is doing a fantastic job so far of organising an inaugural Scottish WWR event. In order for the event to run smoothly, there are a few things we would really appreciate from any club members who want to help out at this event:
In other news...
A small group of us help to guide a weekly swimming/gym session for a group of blind and visually impaired people. At the moment it is at 2pm on Tuesday afternoons. We are looking for a couple of volunteers to help us continue the sessions. If you're interested please contact Gina (gkw2).
Athletic Union Executive Positions
So unfortunately despite the opposition the changes to the AU committee were passed. Applications for positions are open now, and Individuals should apply for these positions by submitting the following to Peter Burgon at email@example.com by Tuesday 16th April at 5pm:
An update on the pool:
Through no fault of our own, St Leonard's have suddenly and unexpectedly decided to ban us from the pool, as they want to implement handrails immediately, and believe the kayaks will damage these. Representatives from the AU are hoping to meet with St Leonard's staff later next week, in order to discuss the situation. If this is unsuccessful potential alternatives include the university paying for removable handrails, or us moving to Madras or East Sands pools. We will of course keep you updated, but for now we have an extra surf session on Thursday at 4pm to quench your thirst for kayaking.
Being lazy walks in my family.
That's all! Sarah has decided to do away with the cat picture of the week, feel free to send abuse to firstname.lastname@example.org if you are against this decision.
Keep up to date with us as well by friending us on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and subscribing to us on YouTube. Our blog is looking pretty sweet as well.
Last weekly email from me, had a great time as secretary, and I hope I've done a good job. You are now in the capable hands of Sarah "how do I do a bullet point" Mitchell, I'm sure she be fantastic.
Vodka, Gin or Lemonade is not the best game to play at the very end of a night.
Love to you all
