Thanks everyone who came on what turned out to be a truly epic freshers' trip. Minimal faff, minimal carnage, and great fun. If you didn't manage to come this weekend, don't worry as there are plenty more opportunities for you to kayak in the next few weeks.
(Trying a slightly new style of email today, any complaints regarding it, feel free to keep them to yourself).
Dates for your diary:
Saturday 6th October - Beginners' Trip
Tomorrow in Rascals will be the last chance for you to sign up to the beginners' trip this saturday. It will be to Stanley, another part of the river Tay, and is totally suitable for people who have never kayaked before. Speak to Hannah or Jean in the pub to secure one of the last spaces.
Sunday 7th October - Intermediate Trip
There are only 4 more spaces left on this trip, guaranteed to get you a lot wetter than you did last weekend! Email km732 to bag a spot right now! Emily Stratton and Jon Wyles are coming, why aren't you!?
Tuesday 9th October - Pub Crawl
Three-legged pub crawl organised by the one and only Tim Cain. Guaranteed to be bigger and messier than last year, keep the date free and your eyes open for more information in the next week.
Friday 12th October - Polo friendly with Dundee
We're going to Dundee next Friday to play Canoe Polo. If you've never heard of the game before here's a quick preview... We're taking a freshers' team, a women's team, and a men's team (there's five people on each team). Afterwards there is the possibility of a night out in Dundee (cheap drinks and a great union), followed by...
Saturday 13th October - Intermediate trip
After the polo friendly. on Friday. If you're interested in the friendly, the night out in Dundee or the intermediate trip please contact Camille (ch663). Spaces are limited so respond quickly!
Sunday 14th October - ANOTHER Beginners' Trip
To the Dee, which we believe has not been paddled by anyone currently in the club. Spaces are limited, so email jw200 or speak to Jon or Kirstie Main in Rascals.
In other news... I still <3 LM
Wednesday afternoon coachingFor my Level 2 coaching award, I am looking for some people to coach on Wednesday afternoons on the sea. It'll be for about an hour and a half each Wednesday afternoon, for 3 weeks, starting next week. Any ability level welcome, but this will be especially good if you have just started paddling this year, and is free. Please email me (ak632) if you are interested.
It’s that time of year again when we will be organising the canoe club’s naked calendar! For any of you that haven’t done it before, it’s basically the Canoe club doing the Calendar Girls with all the profits going to a charity (to be announced this week)!
Its lots of fun and don’t worry if you’re shy, we have lots of paddles, wetsuits, spray decks etc etc. to cover yourself up with!!
So watch this space if you are keen for times and dates or when the first shoots will be taking place….
Do you have a drivers license?
If you have a license and would like to drive for the club, email James (jm2252) and he will let you know what you have to do! If you become an AU driver there is still no obligation to drive, or to drive any vehicle you don't feel comfortable with.
That's about it for this week folks. Friend us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, subscribe to us on YouTube, and read our Blog.
