Bonjour tout le monde...

...and welcome back! Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year, and that the dreaded e-words aren't causing you too much grief. Here are some tasty morsels of good news for you to look forward to:

Canoe Polo Friendly
Patrick has been busy organising some polo training for us all as we get squarely stuck in to polo season. On Thursday 20th (that's next Thurs) we have a friendly against Glasgow and Dundee organised in Glasgow in the evening, which will probably be followed by a top quality night out. If you're keen then get in touch with Patrick (pj58) ASAP!

Polo Training
Following immediately on from the friendly will be 2 polo training days at Glenrothes on Monday 24th and Monday 31st Jan. It'll be fun, cheap and we should get tons of practice and games in. If you're going to SUS or are in a Division team then you should definitely be getting in on this so we can show up in Glasgow and teach the competition some manners... Send Patrick (pj58) an email. Now.

Level 1 Coaching
James has organised a Level 1 Coaching session from the 4th-8th April with Tom Parker. This will include FSRT for those who don't already have it. If you fancy this then drop James (jm2252) an email. Please note that you have to have 2* to do this...

Paddling in Inter-semester...
Nothing is organised at the moment beyond polo excursions. If you want to run a trip or do something with the club then please send Sarah (sed32) an email soon so we can get transport etc. Remember you'll need sufficient leaders and some drivers...

And now, NSR 2011!!!
Get yourself psyched for the largest (and definitely best) freestyle competition in the world! NSR is the UK's student freestyle competition and is one of the highlights of the year.    Take part in an extreme slalom, expression sessions, check out the exhibitions and coaching clinics, join the old school crew, demo boats and even race down a river on an inflatable sofa, then hit up an insanely large party. Held in Nottingham from the 4th-6th March, this is not one to miss. There are tons of prizes to be won (including custom boats) and most are to be won in the novice and intermediate categories since these are the guys who don't usually have kit. You don't have to have done freestyle before to have a go. Check out these videos for a taster:
Kukri Sofa-Cross! (Spot our very own James and Laura at 0:40 and 0:48!!)

To quote the organisers:
"Judging will be pretty relaxed as in years gone by - we don’t really care for watching endless right cartwheels or so-so loops when there is a novice riding an inflatable crocodile in the inlet gate…"
Email Patrick (pj58) to bag your spot...

And that's it for this week. Don't forget that pool sessions are on tomorrow, Monday and Thursday next week to keep you all from overworking yourselves...
