Good afternoon my lovelies. Lots of informative information in this weekly email. Plenty of opportunities for fun, and maybe some kayaking as well.
Dates for your Diary:
Friday 15th February - Bake Sale
A reminder that the bake sale is happening this Friday from 11am to 3pm outside the library. Please come along and buy some cakes – all money raised goes to charity. But if you want to be extra lovely, (and please do) make some cakes and bring them along to the table just before 11am. If you are baking anything if you could let Kirstie Main (kam22) know that would be a big help thanks. Check out the Facebook event for more information.
Monday 18th February - StAUCC Rodeo #2
If you've been before, you know what it's like. If you haven't been before prepare for a pool session like no other where points go to the most daring, the most amusing, the best dressed and to those who make us crack the most ribs from laughing! Last time we had boat surfing, boats sinking and some freestyle efforts! Make sure you're at the pool on time at 7:45pm, beginners and spectators very welcome! They'll also be a prize-giving in the pub afterwards...Will James retain his Rodeo crown?
Saturday 23rd February - Rory's Birthday Extravaganza Advanced trip of Utter Beauty and Eternal Youth
Plan is Dee tribs, with a hopeful descent of Falls of Muick. It's all however water dependant, other options are to just Braan/Bruar it (hermitage anyone?). As it's physically impossible for him to die on my birthday it should be fun! Then everyone should go out in the evening, and go on Tim's beginner trip super hungover. Contact Rory (rm82) for chat and maybe more.
Sunday 24th February - Beginners' Trip
We are doing a nice short section of the Tay to teach you the ways of the river. If you haven't been on a river yet this is a perfect opportunity. It's also amazing if you've just done 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or any number of rivers. You are guaranteed a good day. Leaders, please can you all sign up. E-mail Tim (trc3) if you're keen.
Saturday 23rd - Sunday 24th February - 4* Assessment
There are places still going on the 4* assessment on the weekend of 23rd February. It will be with the super awesome coach Ian Vosser, so email Jean (js226) if you want to find out more or grab a place.
Saturday 2nd - Sunday 3rd March - 2 Day Intermediate Etive/West Coast Trip
Tired of St Andrews? Want to leave the bubble without having to deal with those barbarians at NSR in Nottingham? Need to get your kayaking fix without the associated risk of alcohol poisoning? Sounds like you need a trip to the west coast! We'll be paddling the beautiful, exciting and above all sewage free waters of the Etive on day one and we shall go where the water takes us on day 2. Drunken debauchery is optional but strictly encouraged. Email Jon H (jrh8) if keen.
In other news: I'm still madly in love with Hugo.
Volleyball Club Date AuctionThe Volleyball club is organizing a Date Auction to be hosted at Rascals Bar on the 21st of Feburary, 2013. Last year the Date Auction was extremely successful and together with the help of the AU and the other club members they managed to raise 700 pounds on the auctions which went towards the Project Zambia Summer Programme.
They are currently looking for one more female to be auctioned off. (Tim Cain is already being auctioned). If keen, email Charlotte Anderson (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information on what is sure to be a fun night raising money for a good cause.
East Neuk Outdoors Instructors
East Neuk Outdoors are looking for one or two seasonal instructors to help out at the outdoor activity centre in Cellardyke from April to September. Over the past 30 years they have usually employed at least one St Andrews University Canoe Club student and would like to maintain this connection. Crispin, the proprietor, can be in St Andrews to meet prospective instructors or arrange to meet them at the centre in Cellardyke. He is in St Andrews most Monday and Friday afternoons. If anyone would like to apply, send a CV to email@example.com. Calum Fisher has worked at the centre and would be happy to answer any questions, or you can phone the centre on 01333 311929 to find out more.
Jon's weekly escapade, Episode 3: Climbed his second munro, accompanied by nuclei of quality banter. Sinners was cray, as were most other nights this week. Also found out he can partake in NSR.
Our neighbour's dog shat in our garden, so my mum told me to get a shovel and throw it over the fence. I don't see what that solved, now we've got dog shit in our garden and the neighbours have our shovel.
And, just like that, we come to the weekly sad moment in our lives where I have to sign off from this communication foolishness. Try not to miss me too much. Get keen, get kayaking.
My love for you all is like diarrhoea. I just can't hold it in.
