Here's today's weekly email, including general notices and some upcoming events.
You have to be at least 58.5 inches to be an astronaut. To give perspective, that's about half as long as Rory's hair.
FRESHERS' TRIP OF AWESOMENESS, 29-30TH SEPTEMBER:
If you haven't already signed up for the Freshers' Trip, signups will be in Rascals after the pool session tomorrow. No matter how much kayaking you've done, everyone is welcome. An epic two day trip down the River Tay, starting on Saturday 29th September, camping overnight. It'll be £25, £10 of which must be paid upon sign up. This includes all transport, kit, camping and a BBQ on the saturday night. We'll be heading for a chinese all-you-can-eat in Dundee on the Sunday night as well. Last year it was awesome, we had about forty people and everyone had a great time. If you have any questions email jw200.
POOL SESSION TOMORROW, 8:45PM:
Another one of our two weekly pool sessions in St Leonards Pool. Another chance for you to jump in a kayak and learn the basics, as well as having some fun. Here is a map with directions. Afterwards we will head to Rascals on North Street (about 10pm), where you can pay membership and sign up for the Freshers' Trip.
HELP LEAD AN SD FIELD TRIP, THURSDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER:
The SD fourth years are planning a field trip along the coast to Castle Sands to study the marine ecology and they have asked us to help out with leading and safety. If you are interested in helping out, it will be 2 sessions of 1.5 hours each starting at 1pm. If you can help at either or both, emailJames (jm2252).
A REQUEST FROM THE GEAR OFFICERS:
Anyone who owns a deck that's currently in the boatshed, please remove it unless you don't mind it being used when you're not there. This is to avoid mix-up with club and completely private decks.
General condition sessions from 5-6pm on Monday and Thursday, open to all.
RORY NEEDS FRIENDS:
Anyone that wants to join Rory for yoga in the sports centre, there are sessions from 5-6pm Monday and Friday and 7-8pm Wednesday.
There will be an Sinners Sport coming up in the next few weeks. For the benefit of freshers, everyone goes to the union dressed in sports gear and everyone gets drunk and has a good time. More details regarding wristbands and predrinks TBA.
