Wasupppp Gangsters. Now listen carefully, some pretty epic stuff for y'all to sign up to:

Wednesday afternoon training session.
2nd of May. Probably to Grandtully but maybe to the Ericht or the North Esk depending on interest and water levels. Meet Jon H at the pub or email me to sign up (jrh8)!

Message from our social rep:
Pot-luck dinner and pre-game for people with aqua ball dance tickets. Location to be confirmed. Contact Tim (trc3) if keen.

Free Coaching
Alex Lumsden is an outdoor instructor working for Dumfries & Galloway Council Outdoor activities service working towards his level 5 coach award and is looking for willing and able bodies to practice coaching on. He'd happily give us some coaching on the 23rd-24th of May. He is looking for six people who are confidently paddling grade three and above for two days of coaching. Location unknown as of now but people interested should contact Jean (js226) ASAP.

Team building volunteering
There is an opportunity for a one off volunteering afternoon with a group of mixed 13-16yr old teenagers through the charity Families First. The charity aims to provide practical help and support to families experiencing difficulties or coping with additional stress, with the likes of team building activities like kayaking - if you want more information about the charity check out their website, http://www.digitalfife.com/index.asp?MainID=4884. The hope is to organise a session at east sands around the last week of May (last week of exams, before the Summer trip). For this to run I would need at least 2 coaches willing to come along and help a run a session (most of them will be beginners). If you think you can help and would be free sometime around then or need more information, email Kirstie Main at kam22.

Epic trips on 5th/6th May

Sat 5th – Beginner’s Trip: This will be spectacular, confidence boosting trip on a beautiful section of river where we'll practice our skills and maybe learn to surf! A truly tasty apres-paddle dinner is also on the cards! If you want to come along, email km732 asap as spaces will be limited!

Sun 6th - Intermediate Trip: Exams are coming but don't stress, for this is your chance  to chill out and freak out on some grade 4 epicness! Depending on water levels we'll hopefully be heading to the Blackwater or the Tilt of Terror! This will possibly be the best 1-day trip of the year, so book it in your diary as a 'day off revision'! Shotgun a seat, email km732 asap as spaces will be limited!

Post Aqua Ball Trip

There are still spaces on the trip this weekend, so anyone who wants a great weekend of paddling, please get in touch with Amy (ak632) asap. The Garry is releasing on the Saturday, so will be great for some playboating fun. We'll be staying in a bunkhouse then paddling somewhere else in the area on Sunday.

First Aid Course
2 spaces left on the 1st aid course this weekend - likely to cost sub £15 for any members who sign up! Contact Calum (cf344).

And lastly some notes from me, your sexy secretary (Very very sexy. Mmmmhmmmm.)

  • In an effort to get 'down with the kids', I've created a YouTube account for the club. Please send all your videos (or links to them) to jw200 so I can get them up there.
  • More pictures and videos needed to update staucc.com, but I can probably get most of the pictures from facebook.
  • Keep your quotes coming in for the quotes section of the website.
  • If you run a trip, please either write a blog post yourself, or delegate it to someone else.

Finally, this is what I looked like when I woke up this morning.

Did you know? The US interstate highway system requires that one mile in every five be straight. These straight sections function as airstrips in times of war and other emergencies.
