Weekly Email! 04/12/13

posted 1 Jan 2014, 09:58 by Canoe St Andrews
Evening everyone! I hope people who have exams aren't getting too stressed with revision - remember that they'll soon be over and then you can enjoy Christmas! For those of you coming, remember that our Christmas meal at Rascals is tomorrow (Thursday) and starts at 7pm!

Dates for your diary...
SSS Polo - Friday 31st January/Saturday 1st February
For anyone who wants to try their hand at polo, then this is the chance! Glasgow University will be hosting a polo competition, perfect for those of you wanting to have fun and play polo. Night out in Glasgow of course, with polo on the Friday evening and all day Saturday. Keen? Email Jon (jw200) to find out more and sign up.

BUCS Slalom - 15th/16th February One of the best competitions of the year. Based in Teeside, the slalom course provides a perfect opportunity for those of you wanting to try out slalom for the first time on grade 2 water. A man made course, not very long (1min30 run (very roughly)), lots of people alongside to do safety and to cheer you on. We stay in a travelodge, (Yes, thats a TRAVELODGE!) and have a very sophisticated weekend. Those of you keen, email jw200 to sign up or find out more. Everyone of all abilities welcome!
Gina and I will be going in the C2. You wouldn't want to miss out on that hilarious carnage would you?
In other news...
Updated Courses and Calender!
The club calendar has been updated so have a look at when next semesters competitions and courses are! The qualifications log has also been updated so you can put "want" under any of the courses to let Andre know you want them!
Did you know that if you drop a raisin in a glass of champagne, it will bounce up and down in the glass?
A message from the gear officers
You may have noticed that wetsuits and cags are getting steadily wetter throughout the year. This isn't helped by leaving term on the floor or hanging them incorrectly. If you see someone hanging them up poorly please take a moment to let them know. That being said, we do realise that the shed is running short on hangers for them, if you have any unloved ones needing a good home please either bring them to the Christmas meal or email jor2 or jrh8.
I'm pretty sure a lot of facts I post in these emails are just internet lies...
Do you still want a naked calendar?
Gina will be at the Christmas meal tomorrow (Thursday) selling naked calendars again - they're £5 and all profits go to RNLI. Get one before they run out! If you're not coming to this meal, please email her (gkw2) to sort out another time to pick one up.

And that's it for the week. Not much is happening as we're all being very boring and revising. Pool and pub sessions are still on throughout the exam period though so come along and have some well deserved revision breaks!

Oh and here's a video of Erik Boomer doing a crazy kayak stunt.
Sarah's weekly escapade: She learnt that working two nights in a row until 5am is not a very fun thing to do. Although she did get a lot of free food...
Finally, keep up to date with us by friending us on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and subscribing to us on YouTube. Our blog is great and has just had a lot of new additions - give it a read!
Also, she found out how amazing Christmas ball is! She'll definitely be going next year (if she can be bothered to queue for tickets)
Lots of Canoe Love,
Sarah xx
