Evening everyone! I'd like to start off this email by congratulating everyone who went to BUCS WWR last weekend - we came 8th and couldn't have done it without every person there trying their hardest and being amazing! I'd also like to say good luck to those of you who have early exams! Now for the weekly email...
Dates for your diary:
Pool Sessions - Monday and Thursday, 8:15pm-9:15pm
We'll be running pool sessions throughout the revision and exam periods so come along to them each week for some well deserved breaks. We'll not be doing sign ups anymore so please just come along!
No secret messages this week - Jonty is over so I'm trying to write this as quickly as possible.
Intermediate Trip - This Sunday (1st December)
For intermediates looking to improve their skills or for certain freshers looking for a challenge! We'll be heading to the North Esk (grade 3(4)).Email jon (jrh8) if interested.
Complaints can be addressed to sjm34SSS Polo - Friday 31st January/Saturday 1st February
For anyone who wants to try their hand at polo, then this is the chance! Glasgow University will be hosting a polo competition, perfect for those of you wanting to have fun and play polo. Night out in Glasgow of course, with polo on the Friday evening and all day Saturday. Keen? Email Jon (jw200) to find out more and sign up.
Although I should say thanks to Amy for suggesting that we go to a lovely pottery shop in Crail today - I got some wonderful christmas presents :)
Volunteers needed - Thursday 6th February
Madras coaching in the pool with children of varying ability. Let Gina know (gkw2) if you are keen. Might be a long way off but it will come around quickly what with the holidays and all. Will be 1-2 hrs in the afternoon. Great chance to practice your coaching skills.
In other news... Rory's a loser
Winter Trip Dates
Because exams are so late this year, our usual Christmas Trip is changing to a Winter Trip. We're planning on holding it the 23rd and 24th of January and thought that we'd let you know now as you'll be likely to be booking trains/flights back soon. Please let Sarah know (sjm33) if you'd be interested in coming along. At the moment these dates are just provisional though - you wouldn't be signing yourself up for anything, we're just gauging interest.
Naked calendars printed and ready - come and get yours!
Our naked calendar is only £5, with all profits going towards RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution). Email Gina (gkw2) if you haven't already told her that you want one/some, and pick it/them up from the pool/pub/Christmas dinner. They make great Christmas presents - your family will be so proud of your dedication to making money for charity!
Want to kit yourself out with some canoe flavoured kukri attire? We are hoping to send in an order before Christmas so if you want something take a look here. I think we get a discount so it won't be as much as on the website. E-mail enquiries to Tim (trc3) and he will find out how much everything will be. You can buy online but then it won't be personalised - it's much better to just let Tim know what you want and what size so that he can get it all personalised for you!
Now for a bit of procrastination - Natalia Bain, who a lot of you will know, posted this hilarious link on facebook the other day and I just thought that it was too funny to not share with you all.
And finally, keep up to date with us by friending us on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and subscribing to us on YouTube. Our blog is great and has just had a lot of new additions - give it a read!
Lots of Canoe Love,
P.S. Committee meeting minutes attached!
