Hi everybody,

Get keen for this week's Canoe Club news, hot off the press:

Polo Friendly in Edinburgh - 5th Nov
Next Friday (November 5th) we're heading down to Edinburgh to play some friendly polo against the mighty EUCC. Get ready for quality polo, epic fireworks and an excellent night out with Edinburgh Uni. Email Patrick (pj58) if you're keen, he'll be signing folk up at the pub on Thursday as well. Good times guaranteed...

Social Extranvangaza
An epic message from your Social Sec, Issy:

1) 3-legged Pub crawl today
The anticipation is almost over! Meet at the Rule tonight at 8.30 for what will probably turn out to be the best night of your life... It will be a great chance to get to know your fellow kayakers better and indulge in some club banter. Rough plan is to head on to Drouthies, The Whey Pat, The Raisin, The Vic and end at the Union. Expect a few twists and challenges along the way too...

2) Adrenaline Ball tickets:
Next Monday (1st Nov) I will be selling tickets at The Rule from 9.30 for the annual Adrenaline Ball (which is likely to replace tonight's pub crawl as the best night of your life). It is always a great night, held at The Scores hotel on the 19th Nov (a great way to start your Raisin Weekend!) featuring a ceilidh, DJ and dinner.
Dinner tickets cost £30 each, and Dance (from 9.30pm) cost £12.
  • Menu: Starter- Red onion and Brie Bruschetta served with Basil Pesto
  •           Main Course - peppered topside of Beef with roasting juices
  •           Veggie choice- Mediterranean Vegetable Tian with Indian pesto
  •           Dessert - Chocolate cheesecake. Coffee & fudge
Email me (ijns) if you have any questions. Tickets will be sold on a 1st come, 1st serve basis and are likely to sell out so get in there quick!
Cheers, Issy x

Wednesday Coaching Sessions
These are now fully booked but just a quick reminder to anyone who signed up to them that they start today and run for the next 4 Wednesdays, excluding reading week. Questions? Email James (jm2252)...

Kit for Sale
Kirsten is selling some of her kit:

Pyranha Ammo (Small) Blue and White, £500 o.n.o.
It is in the boatshed if you want to look at it or have a go in, just send me a message first.

Palm Sidewinder Drycag (Small) Orange, £95
Top of the range fully dry cag with kevlar elbow protectors and two side pockets! Retails for £200 new. It's a bit big on me so roughly ladies size 10-12 I think.

NKE Longjohn Wetsuit (XS but will fit ladies size 10-12), £20
Barely used since I got it as I got dry trousers not long after, it retailed at £50 when I got it, probably more now.

If you have further questions or any offers then email me (kes53) or catch me at the pool...

Are you missing kit?
There is still a bunch of kit left in the shed from the last couple of river trips that is cluttering up an otherwise spotless area! If you think some of it may be yours then please contact Gear Officers Tom (ti33) or Sean (sld42) or come to the surf session today. Surplus items will otherwise be put in the changing shed round the corner soon to clear some space in the shed (or if valuable, put on eBay to fund Tom's Kopparberg cravings...) Just kidding.

On a similar note there was a glove left in the minibus after this weekends shenanigans - black, right-handed and with "Active Sports" written on it. If it might be yours then email Jonny Bell (jb794) and he'll bring it to the pub.

And Finally...
For those of you with kayaking on the brain and a few minutes to kill, check out last year's Rider of the Year Awards, something to aim for maybe...?

That's all for now folks, not long till Reading Week now!
